What does divorce mediation entail?

As divorce mediation increases in popularity, many couples may have heard of it and wondered how it works. Divorce mediation can provide divorcing couples with more control over divorce outcomes and their future following the divorce process. By being able to reach more agreements concerning divorce-related issues, the couple may enjoy a more amicable divorce process. Divorce-related agreements concerning property division, spousal support, child support to some extent and child custody can all be addressed through the divorce mediation process.

How is a business valued in a divorce?

If you own a business, and you are getting divorced, you may have a variety of concerns and questions related to how your divorce may impact your business. It is important to have as many answers to those questions as possible as you begin the divorce and property division process and begin to assess the value of business assets.

Collaborative divorce is one options for couples to consider

Courtrooms can sometimes be intimidating for families going through the divorce process. They may also lack the privacy some families would prefer, especially when children are involved. Depending on the couple and disputes that may arise between the couple, the divorce process can be time consuming and include high costs and sometimes bitter feelings. One method of avoiding all of that may be the collaborative divorce process.

Johnny Depp's California divorce may be without a prenup

This blog recently discussed the impending high-asset divorce between Johnny Depp and his wife, Amber Heard. It has been reported that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement before they married. This has created some questions concerning whether they had a prenuptial agreement and what Heard may be entitled to receive in the divorce between the couple under California law.

Actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard divorcing in California

Any divorce process can be a challenge but knowing how to approach divorce-related issues associated with a high-asset divorce is important. Johnny Depp and his wife of 15 months, Amber Heard, are divorcing. The actress recently filed for divorce from Depp and requested that he pay her spousal support. Depp responded to her divorce filing and requested that the court not grant the spousal support. Depp is believed to have substantially more assets than Heard. In his response, Depp also requested that Heard be required to pay her own attorney's costs.

Collaborative divorce is also a resource for same-sex couples

This blog recently discussed the benefits of the collaborative divorce process. Collaborative divorce options can also be helpful for same-sex couples who are divorcing. Same-sex couples going through the dissolution process in California, whether they have children or not, will have similar concerns as opposite-sex partners going through the dissolution process. If the couple has children, child custody and child support become concerns in addition to property division and spousal support.
