There are many upsides to divorce mediation

On Behalf of | Apr 21, 2017 | Divorce Mediation |

Today there are a number of different options available for handling a divorce. Divorce mediation is one option that can save couples time, money and stress sometimes associated with a traditional divorce. Mediation can help couples resolve the common divorce-related concerns they may have associated with child support, spousal support, child custody and property division.

The mediation process can be a different experience for couples who may have anticipated having to resolve their divorce-related concerns in court. Mediation helps couples work together to reach solutions to divorce-related concerns and can ultimately be a more efficient process for couples to engage in. In addition, the mediation process is a private process unlike a traditional litigated divorce that creates a public record and can be troubling for the couple and the couple’s children.

The mediation process is also a safe process because what the couple discusses during it cannot be used in the litigation process. This allows the couple to meaningfully work together and provides opportunity for the best outcomes possible in the circumstances. In addition, it is an effective process because the couple has control over the process and is in the best position to know what is best for them and their family rather than the court doing its best to determine outcomes that are best for the family.

Mediation is another method for resolving divorce-related concerns that can avoid a time-consuming, costly and acrimonious alternative. It is helpful for divorcing couples to be familiar with the different options available to them through the family law system so they can decide which one is best for them.
