Divorce mediation -- an amicable way to settle disputes

There may be many couples in California whose marriages are in trouble, and filing for divorce seems to be the best possible option. However, there is no denying the fact that divorce often turns bitter inside and outside of court. The discord may permanently damage the relationship between the couples and it can adversely affect the children. Considering that staying together may not be possible any more, a couple may want to consider divorce mediation in order to arrive at an amicable settlement.

Divorce mediation is facilitated by a neutral mediator who helps the couple to arrive at a mutually amicable settlement. This mediation may help to establish a civilized relationship between the separated spouses, avoiding bitter arguments and confrontations for the most part.

Mediation may also work well for those couples who have children out of wedlock and wish to share custody of the children.

The mediator remains neutral, and the spouses may consult their individual lawyers before signing the agreement. This process is typically less complicated than litigation and, hence, it takes less time to reach an agreement. It is also more private than a litigated divorce, and thus the couple may be able to avoid any unnecessary attention.

However, if the mediator is not neutral and the couple fails to arrive at a settlement, wasting time and money, a court hearing may be necessary.

If people are having a similar experience, our law firm can provide all possible legal assistance for them to arrive at an agreement of the major issues of divorce, such as custody of the children, child support and property division. We respect the fact that our clients want to avoid the complications and stress of a traditional divorce, and we help our clients to resolve their differences amicably.
