A lawyer’s advice can prove invaluable during divorce mediation

Visitors to this website might recall a previous post that discussed the lower costs of collaborative divorce compared with the more traditional contested divorce that must be litigated. The blog post also noted that the high costs of contested divorce keep many couples in unpleasant marriages. This phenomenon is true throughout California and many other states.

As the previous post noted, a collaborative divorce requires that both spouses have legal representation to ensure the mediated settlement is a fair deal for both of them. To that end, our law firm has helped many couples resolve their differences more amicably than traditional divorce and without going through litigation. The mechanism for this is known as alternative dispute resolution. We have used ADR for more than 25 years, throughout Alameda County.

Our firm understands that many couple, especially those with younger children, do not want to attack one another; they want to be free of a marriage that does not work for them without the stress typically seen in many contested divorces. Our lawyers are committed to helping clients realize this outcome by resolving their differences in the most peaceful manner possible and to do so privately and at a reasonable cost.

We present our clients with all of the options that can bring a peaceful divorce, including mediation, collaborative divorce, arbitration and the use of a private judge. We clearly explain which option we think is best for them and then commit ourselves to helping our clients get their desired results.

We do our best to help our clients resolve each and every divorce-related matter, including spousal support, child custody, child support and property division and we work to make the process as amicable as possible. If our clients still cannot resolve their differences, we can help our clients at trial.
